Hello All,
After a long fight with my Cheerson CX-20 to setup the telemetry, i figured out how to come over with the bug and make the telemetry work.
What not to do:
Like any internet savvy, i asked my friend google, where i fall on wrong idea to do extreme soldering on the microcontroller board and cut the wire, i am pretty sure this dirty solution will work. I tried even soldering the wire as mention in the site, but found extremely complicated due to the very small form factor of the APM board, i gave up this idea (lucky me)
Go through this famous site, to understand what not to do
http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheerson-CX-20-3DR-Radio-for-New-Board/?ALLSTEPS
Hardware bug:
When i received the telemetry the cable lines that carries the power (red, black) are inverted. With confidence i connected the telemetry and all over (i fried it). Pity there is no simple diode to avoid inverted lines. I learned in a hard way :-( don't want to give us, so order another one and got into software bug.
Firmware bug:
The UART port in the APM board v252_v5.0 is wrongly coded in the APM firmware software, look into the APM forum where the piece of code that has problem is highlighted and also custom firmware with the fix is available to download. http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=9534
APM Planner bug (only for poor MAC user)
My try to flash the custom firmware went on toss because of a bug(Error saying unable to communicate to the COMM port) in the latest version of APM planner available on the APM site, but downloading another non published APM planned from http://firmware.diydrones.com/Tools/APMPlanner/daily/2015-08-04/ worked for me.
If you feel lost with all my explanation, watch the following youtube great video, which gives explanation of all i mentioned above.
If you find more bette solution (by avoiding the custom firmware), do share it.
Happy wireless drone.....
